Her message is about the diversity of people in New Zealand (“near and far”, “old”, “young”, “big”, “small”, “more than just a game”, “who we are”, “what we do”)

What is her last gesture? What does it mean?

She is putting black paint on her cheeks. This is an All Black gesture that is meant to federate all the people behind their rugby team.

You can now listen again and fill the script:

“We are the All Blacks nation. We come from near and far, we’re old, we’re young, we’re big, we’re small. To us, it’s more than just a game. It’s who we are and what we do: this is All Blacks footie!”

Pick out the elements showing how important this event is. Rephrase drawing conclusions. Look at the example:

The woman is a journalist. The man works at the theme park.

What is the main attraction at this theme park?

The main attraction is “zorb”.

Can you describe it?

It’s a giant plastic ball (3 meters). You go inside and you roll down a hill.

Where was it created?

It was created in New Zealand. This is a New Zealand creation.

How does the journalist react to “zorb”?

She is reluctant at first but she tries it. She screams and shouts a lot while she is in the “zorb”. Then she is coming out of the ball, she says she is born and she is shaking like a panda. But she concludes that it was a great experience and that we should do it because it’s unique.

Journalist: Now Roturoa is famous for a few things and one of them is the zorb. All I’ve heard is that it’s a big globe-shaped ball that you step inside and get pushed down a hill. Only in New Zealand. So Pete, tell me what a zorb is because I’ve never been in a zorb before and I just keep seeing these people coming down in plastic, big plastic balls.

Pete: Basically, it’s just a giant inflatable three-meter ball which we call “zorb”.

Journalist: So, where was the zorb created?

Pete: Zorb was created here in New Zealand. It’s, basically, it’s an iconic New Zealand creation. So what we’re gonna do now is we’re gonna sign you up inside, we’re gonna put strap around you in one of our balls, and we’re gonna push you down the hill.

Journalist: All right, let’s do it! … Oh my god!

Pete: Are you ready?

Journalist: Yeah…

Pete: Are you sure?

Journalist: Yeah… Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my goooooooood! (screams and shouts) Oh my god! I am born! I’m shaking like a panda.

Well that was a real experience. It’s a must-do here in Roturoa and such a unique attraction.
