  • This is a documentary about the road 66.Cyrus Avery prpoposed a road to Chicago, illimois to Santa Monica in Los Angeles. The U.S government approved the project in 1926. During « The Great Depression » in 1930s from 1940s she took the name of « mother road », alot of american take this road to leave their city to travel. In 1936, Bobby troup's wife asked him to make, a song about the route 66, Nat King Cole san his song. The « Grans of Wrath » by Jonh Steinbeck take the name of « Main Street America ». In 1940s trafic increased on the road because of the military vehicules. A lot of people traveled the country on this road like trucks transporting goods and military truck. Peolple could use this flat road in any season. An other name of the route is the 3people highway » There was also a organization named US66 highway association to support the road.

It was proposed by Cyrus Avery who was a businessman from Tulsa in Oklahoma and it was approved by the US government in 1926. It is the most travelled road in the US in the 30s and 40s. It was called "the mother road" during "the great depression" in the 1930s and "the people's highway". It is a flat road and people could use it in any season. A lot of people use this road to travel the country : trucks transporting goods in 1940s and military trucks which increased the traffic on the road. A special organization was created to support this road : the US 66 Highway Association. Some artists inspired by this road created books or songs like John Steinbeck with his book "The Grapes of Wrath" and Bobby Troup wrote a song to Nat King Cole. Bobby's wife asked him to wrote a song about route 66.

    We can learn that road 66 is the longuest road of the U.S.A and goes from Chicago to Santa Monica (in L.A). Cyrus Avery, a businessman from Oklahoma had launched and helped this project. This road has a great story. It has been approved by government in 1926. During the 30's and 40's, it was the most used road. During the Great Depreasur, it was called "Mother Road''. In the book The Grapes Of Wrath, John Steinbeck called it '' The Main Street Of America''. During the 40's, the trafic increased on road 66 because of military and goods trucks. Bobby troup also wrote a song for Nat Kingcole aboute road 66 in 1957.

This road had different names, or nickname, for example during the great Depression in the 1530s, people named it “the mother road”. It was also called “ people's highway”. A lot of people used this road to travel the country in 1940 it was used by trucks which transported goads but also by military trucks In the 1540s, traffic increased the road because of military vehicles. We can notice also that a special organization named US 66 Highway Association was created to support the road. Bobby Troup wrote a song inspired by route 66, because his wife asked him to make ( a song ) one. When he reached LA he gave the song to Nat King Cole a famous singer.
