The introductory music:
Let’s make hypotheses about what could be happening…
The music suggests suspense because of the rhythm. It’s quite slow, then it accelerates, then it slows again. There are high-pitched moves and low-pitched moves which alternate.
We can imagine a scene of a crime.
There were voices…
It gives an impression of stress, it’s stressful. It sounds rather sad.
Before the crime, the music mounts up to be frightening / scary. The audience might be afraid.
The quality of the sound makes us think it’s a black and white movie.
It’s a short-length movie.
Let’s recreate the scenario.
1- The scene is taking place at night.
2- We can see a couple through the window.
3- They are inside a house, near the fireplace, probably in the living-room.
4- A pane of the window is broken.
5- The window makes a frame within the frame.
6- The woman is standing while the man is sitting on an armchair.
7- He is reading a newspaper.
8- She comes to him and they seem to be having an argument.
9- She suddenly snatches the newspaper from the hands of her husband and throws it into the fire.
10- At that point, the man stands up.
11- She is seen through the broken pane shouting at him.
12- We can barely hear what she says to him: “I can’t stand it anymore!”
13- She then slaps him in the face.
14- She is seen stepping back, as he is stepping forward.
15- The man is holding a poker in his right hand.
