  • Is Malala a hero?

Malala can be considered as a hero because…

To me, Malala is not a hero because…

She is strong… she has physical strength, moral strength

    She survived an attempted assassination…

She fights the Talibans without a gun

She spoke freely… and she criticized the Talibans…

    She saved education for girls...

In spite of her young age, she is already famous  (TV)

Accomplished a lot even if young

    Courageous / brave / bold

Feels no fear / no scare / no anxiety.

Already mature even if only 18.

She survived thanks to an English hospital / English doctors

She fights as a politician with words…

    She didn’t save anybody

If she were a true hero she would go back to Pakistan…

    Malala’s new life

Three years ago, she was shot while she was going to school. After that she went to hospital in England, more precisely in Birmingham. So now she is still living in Birmingham and when she closes her eyes she remembers her life in Pakistan. She dreams about her life before and especially her friend Moniba. But she opens her eyes, she realizes she is in Birmingham. This is both positive and negative… what is good there is that she is in security / safety because everybody thinks like her and the environment is modern (buildings, pavements, food, running water, lights, etc…). Still / yet, she misses her country even if people are narrow-minded there (“Centuries behind”).

Malala is a Pakistani schoolgirl, aged today 18, but when she was 15, she was shot by a group of Talibans. She was on her way to school, in a schoolbus (an open-back truck). She was shot because she represented a danger for Talibans, because she fought for girls’ education, girls’ rights to education, saying that the Talibans were wrong.

Since then, she has won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 and she has also met Barack Obama. Is she a heroin? Why do people consider her as a hero(in)?
