    The blind man

This is a video to support Mark Pollock. He is a blind man who has decided to walk to the South Pole, in minus 50 degrees. It’s dangerous, he risks dying, or losing a limb if he gets frostbitten. His challenge is to reach the South Pole, carrying his provisions and also a flag with all the pictures of people who support him.

The video explains that if you support him, you send to friends…

    Into the wild

This is an extract / an excerpt from a book / a novel entitled “Into the Wild” and written by Jon Krakauer, in 1997. It is the story of an adventurer, a young man, named Alex. He is 24. He comes from South Dakota and in the extract, he is near Fairbanks, near a road, waiting for a car to stop. The weather around him is snowy and cold. He is shivering alone. Gallien stops and helps him: first he offers to drive him to Anchorage to buy him some gear / equipment but Alex doesn’t accept / he refuses. Alex instead wants to go and live into the wild so he gives him his watch, his money and his comb because he doesn’t need anything anymore. Gallien manages to give him two sandwiches and chips. And then Gallien takes a picture of Alex and lets him go… into the wild…

Why did Alex decide to live such an experience?

Would you be ready to do the same? Why? Why not?

    My greatest challenge

This is an interview between two people: the first is a man, a journalist, a reporter who works for CBN studios in New York. He is doing a radio report in a weekly programme called “my greatest challenge”. His guest today is Lindsey who is a student in Sociology. She is 25 (years old) and she joined a program(me) called “Togetherness Magazine” in which she wrote an article after her experience: indeed, she walked from Bristol, Connecticut to Lincoln, Nebraska. Lindsey left in February and she came back on August 15th. During her trip, she crossed six states (New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri…) and she met more people in six months than in her entire life… For example, in Indiana, she stayed with a South African family in a small village: it was great. It was worth it!

From Connecticut to Nebraska, there are 1300 miles as the crow flies but Lindsey in fact walked 1500 miles! First she was scared and exhausted / very tired… But it was a life-changing experience: she stayed on the move, she spent time with all sorts of people, she is very proud, it is unforgettable!
