ROUTE 66

This Route 66 is the most travelled road in the USA. It was created in the 1920s and named so in 1926 thanks Cyprus Avery. He was a businessman from Oklahoma.

The road has other names: “mother road” or “main street of America” because it goes from Chicago, Illinois, to L.A (Los Angeles), California. It stretches on more than 3000 kilometers.

The name “mother road” comes from writer John Steinbeck, in his book entitled The Grapes of Wrath”.

A lot of people used that road: farmers, military vehicles, truck drivers because it’s flat so you drive any season.

In 1946, a song was written by Bobby Troup for Nat King Cole, entitled “Route 66”.
