• This picture / photo / photograph was taken in a field. We can imagine / guess / assume / suppose this picture was taken in the morning because the people seem to be waking up / getting up. Indeed, it represents a couple, a young man with a young woman. They are sitting on the edge of the open door of the van which is parked in a field. There seems to be another van, we can see one in the background.

The man has got long black hair and he is wearing a loose orange shirt on striped white and blue loose trousers. He has no shoes / he is barefoot. As for the girl, she has got long blond hair. She is wearing a short-sleeved white blouse on a large red skirt. She is barefoot too.

On the ground, in front of the van, we can see / there are two covers / blankets / sleeping bags (?), one is red and one is blue and white. They may have slept on the grass, outside the van.

The van itself is blue with stickers of flowers everywhere.

We can understand that these two people are hippies from the way they are dressed and from their flowery van.

Event? They are probably attending the Woodstock Festival.

Date? The festival occurred in 1969, precisely in August, on August 15th, 16th and 17th.

    Oral comprehension:

    Mary about the Brexit

This document is an extract from an interview of a British woman, Mary, who speaks about Brexit and her feelings after the referendum. First, she quotes the question asked in the referendum: “Do you want the UK to leave the EU, yes or no?”. Then she says / explains that she was surprised by the result because it was close. Indeed, just before the vote, the polls were very close. On D-Day, every vote does count / counts.

The possible consequences of the BREXIT:

LABOUR MARKET: the foreigners won’t be able to enter the country so the labour market will decrease and there will be a shortage of manpower.

BANKS: The currency (the Pound Sterling) might be devalued… because it won’t be scaled on other currencies…

AIRLINES: The crossing between the European countries and the UK will be more difficult and will cost more to airlines because the agreements might be suspended.

FOOD / GENERAL RETAIL IMPORTS-EXPORTS: taxes will increase / raise because the borders will be closed and it will cost money to go through. Importing or exporting becomes more expensive.

CONSTRUCTION: no foreign company can enter the British market. Labour forces (immigrants) won’t be allowed in the country so the constructions sites will stop.

REAL ESTATE: it will become and more expensive with inflation.

CLIMATE CHANGE: They won’t depend on the COP21 so they will maybe do what they want and this could endanger the environment…
